This Horseshoe Bend Adventure Elopement with Tanasha & Percy was UNBELIEVABLE. Our good friend Elizabeth Wells invited us to come along to shoot video of this epic event and I couldn’t help snapping some pix along the way. This in NO WAY compares to the beautiful way that Elizabeth captured this event but thought it might at least give a glimpse into the magic.
Adventure Eloping at Horseshoe Bend
Adventure Eloping at Horseshoe Bend comes with a certain set of logistics to consider. There’s a simple $20 entry fee to get in. You do need to secure a permit to get married. The best time to Elope at Horseshoe Bend, or do any kind of photo shoots are with at sunrise or at dusk / sunset. Harsh shadows fill the canyon otherwise making it difficult to capture the vast beauty of it all. If you’re doing sunrise get there 2 hours before google says the sun will rise. Sunset, 2 hour before the google says the sun will set.
There’s also a little hike to content with. If you’re there early enough, and your transporting props or flowers, bring some kind of wheeled card to pull along the path that is provide. It’s probably a good 15-20 minute hike from the parking lot. Not super challenging but difficult enough that if your transporting a lot of stuff it can be pretty challenging.
Obviously the main path leads to the most popular lookout with a centered view over the canyon. But here are plenty of spaces to the left or the right that make for amazing ceremony sites where you can avoid having other people in the shots. A dozen weddings could be going down simultaneously and they would all be amazing!
The most important thing with an Adventure Elopement is make sure it’s “AN ADVENTURE”! Take time to hike around, get dirty, get some of the red sand on your dress. Push the limits and make your spread as diverse as possible!
Can’t recommend Adventure Eloping enough at this location. Plus with Lake Powell, Page, Under Canvas & Kanab up the road (which are entirely other posts) you can’t go wrong!
