Why I Offer Mentoring

Over the past 15+ years I’ve built Shutterfreek into a photography brand rooted in storytelling, adventure, and authentic human connection.

Along the way I’ve learned that most photographers don’t just need more information. They need clarity. Direction. Honest feedback. Mentoring is an opportunity to cut through the noise and focus on what actually moves your work and your business forward.

After photographing more than 1,000 weddings and elopements across the Southwest and beyond, I’ve learned a lot about what works, what doesn’t, and how to build a creative path that is both meaningful and sustainable.

FAqs

  • Not even close. What we teach applies to any business serious about growth. Whether you're a photographer, contractor, dentist, or brand owner—the fundamentals are the same: earn attention, build trust, and convert. That starts with content. We show you how to create content that not only looks good, but performs. In today’s landscape, your digital presence is your storefront—and we teach you how to elevate it to a level that stands out.

  • Absolutely. This is one of the most valuable parts of our process. We conduct a comprehensive audit of your brand—your website, social presence, messaging, and positioning—then give you clear, direct insight into what’s working and what’s limiting your growth. From there, we map out a strategic blueprint for where we would take your brand next—at no cost. This is the same level of direction we provide to paying clients, designed to give you immediate clarity and long-term vision.

  • Yes. While style is subjective, strong work is always intentional. We’ll walk through your RAW files together in a live session and show you exactly how we would approach them—refining your look, improving consistency, and elevating the overall quality of your work. The goal isn’t to change your style—it’s to sharpen it.

  • This is ideal for beginners who want to do it right the first time. If you’re starting without a clear brand, website, or social presence, we give you a structured path forward—removing years of trial and error. Our approach mirrors what you’d expect from a high-level agency, delivered in a focused, hands-on environment. The goal is simple: help you build a brand that looks, feels, and performs at a professional level—faster than you could on your own.

  • Yes. While we’re based in New Mexico, we work with clients in a variety of markets. Travel-based mentoring, on-location sessions, and immersive brand development are all available. If you’re looking for a more hands-on, in-your-environment experience, we can tailor something to fit.

  • Absolutely—and this is where we see the biggest growth. We help you transition from one-off creative work into high-value commercial content creation. That means positioning yourself to work with brands, secure retainer clients, and create content that delivers measurable value. It’s not just about what you create—it’s about how that content works for a business. We guide you through building a portfolio, refining your offer, and stepping into a more scalable, sustainable model.

  • Yes. Every mentoring client receives a complimentary license to our full suite of Presets & LUTs. These are the exact tools we use across our own projects to maintain a consistent, cinematic look. More importantly, we show you how to use them with intention—so your work feels cohesive, refined, and professionally executed.

  • Yes. You’ll receive continued access to our private content library—an evolving archive of training videos, walkthroughs, and practical how-to resources. This ensures you’re not left on your own after the sessions end. You’ll have ongoing support tools to continue refining your skills and building momentum.

  • We do, and we’re currently expanding our workshop offerings. As new sessions are scheduled, we’ll share them with our community. We also enjoy speaking and teaching at events. If you’re organizing something and want to bring in a high-value educational component, we’d be glad to be part of it.
