Everything I Wish I Knew Before Offering Glamping Adventure Elopements

Glamping adventure elopements are one of the most magical, immersive, and unforgettable ways to tie the knot. There’s something surreal about stepping into nature while still having the comforts of a beautifully designed, well-furnished space. But after years of offering these experiences, we’ve learned a LOT—things that would have made our first few setups so much smoother.

If you’re thinking about offering glamping elopements or planning one for yourself, here’s what you NEED to know. From temperature control and unexpected setup time to the difference between off-grid glamping vs. resort-style glamping, this guide will set you up for success.

1. Temperature Control & Weather Preparedness

One of the biggest factors to consider when offering a glamping elopement is weather preparation. Whether it’s scorching heat, freezing cold, or unexpected rain, having a climate-controlled space is essential.

Here’s what we’ve learned:

  • In cold conditions: A pellet heater or propane heater can make all the difference inside a bell tent. Quality insulated bedding, heated blankets, and even hand warmers can make things cozier.
  • In hot conditions: Proper ventilation, solar-powered fans, and ensuring the tent is positioned in the shade (if possible) help avoid overheating.
  • Unexpected rain or wind: Waterproofing everything and securing the tent properly is a must. Extra tarps, waterproof flooring, and a covered outdoor area can keep things comfortable.

2. The Magic of Location & Pre-Scouting

The location of a glamping elopement is everything. We’ve found that scouting ahead of time is key to ensuring the couple’s first reaction is nothing short of mind-blowing.

The goal? Finding a location so surreal that when the couple sees it, they lose their freaking mind.

Pre-scouting considerations:

  • Secluded yet accessible (especially for guests or vendors)
  • Visually jaw-dropping—think red rock formations, epic desert landscapes, or hidden forest clearings
  • Close enough to the ceremony site for an easy transition
  • Equipped for glamping setups—space for a tent, fire pit, and outdoor seating

3. The Reality of Setup Time

Moab, Utah – Desert Rover Glamping Experience

One of the biggest surprises when we started offering custom glamping elopements was the insane amount of time it takes to set up camp. One of our most intense setups was for a couple who flew all the way from the Philippines to Moab, Utah for their elopement.

  • This was one of our Desert Rover experiences, where Raymond fully outfitted a bell tent with:
  • A full-size bed
  • A pellet heater
  • Furniture and seating inside and out
  • A fire pit
  • A private chef dinner cooked on-site

The catch? We didn’t anticipate that setup would take EIGHT HOURS.

But the payoff? Completely off-grid, no one around, and a ceremony site just steps from the tent. It created an otherworldly experience that was beyond what the couple imagined.

Lesson learned: Custom glamping takes time, so plan accordingly.

4. Amenities That Make or Break the Experience

A well-furnished glamping setup can turn a simple campsite into a luxury experience. Here are some must-have amenities:

  • Solar-powered lighting for an ambient glow
  • Solar-warmed water bags for an outdoor shower experience
  • A well-hidden but accessible latrine
  • Small bedside tables for essentials
  • Portable power supplies for phone charging & small appliances
  • Comfortable seating both inside and outside the tent
  • A well-crafted fire pit—either using rocks or a Solo Stove for a smokeless fire

These small details elevate the experience and make it feel more like a boutique stay rather than just a fancy campsite.

5. Off-Grid Glamping vs. Resort Glamping

OpenSky – Luxury Glamping in Zion

One of the most high-end glamping wedding experiences we’ve had was at OpenSky—a brand-new luxury glamping resort near Zion National Park.

What makes OpenSky different?
  • Fully architect-designed structures built into a rocky hillside
  • Private, high-end accommodations with wood flooring, tiled bathrooms, indoor/outdoor showers, and even hot tubs
  • Nightly rates ranging from $500 to $1,500
  • Complete isolation—even though it’s a resort, it still feels secluded

This is luxury glamping on another level, offering an ultra-premium experience for couples who want an exclusive, high-end escape.

Under Canvas & Cave Lakes – Social Resort-Style Glamping

In contrast, glamping resorts like Under Canvas (in Zion, Moab, Lake Powell, and more) or Cave Lakes in Kanab, Utah offer a semi-luxury experience with communal spaces.

The difference?
  • Still high-end but less private—you’re sharing space with other guests
  • Larger canvas safari-style tents with built-in toilets, tubs, running water
  • On-site restaurants and amenities that make the stay easier
  • More affordable than ultra-luxury glamping but still very comfortable

This setup works great for couples who want glamping without the hassle of setup, with the option to go off-site for their ceremony.

6. The Range of Glamping Options

Beyond bell tents and safari tents, glamping options are exploding.

Yurt camps for a more traditional yet unique stay
Mini-cabin & mini-home resorts that blend comfort and nature
Airstream resorts with retro-modern vibes and built-in comforts

The key takeaway? The more you move toward resorts, the less personal and private the experience feels. But for couples who want a mix of adventure and convenience, these options can be an amazing compromise.

7. Why Glamping Elopements are Unforgettable

No matter where you choose—whether it’s Moab, White Sands, Taos, Zion, Kanab, Goblin Valley, Capitol Reef, Hanksville, or anywhere in the Four Cornersglamping is one of the most unforgettable ways to elope.

It’s the perfect mix of adventure, comfort, and exclusivity, creating an experience that few people in the world can say they had on their wedding day.

If you’re dreaming of a glamping adventure elopement, go for it. Just be prepared, plan for weather, and think through the setup. And most importantly—find a location so out-of-control beautiful that your couple will lose their freaking mind.
